Stepping toward the Yes

Do you know someone who always seems to get new opportunities to do cool things?

I can think of a few, actually.

They seem to attract opportunities and activities, which always end up as really cool stories they get to share around the dinner table.

I love their energy.

I love their stories.

And deep down, I'm jealous.

I want to do things like that!

I want to experience those things!

Then the question arises in the back of my mind: How do I get to do those things and experience those things?

Have you ever thought that too?

I was listening to one of those men a few weeks ago, when he shared his secret for getting to do those cool things.

Would you like to know what it was?

He had just shared a couple of those cool stories, and I was thinking, "Man! What would it be like to get to do THAT!"

Here was his secret: Assume it's a Yes!

Is there an opportunity for you to do something?

  • Assume you can go.

  • Assume your calendar is free.

  • Assume you can make it happen.

Because when you assume it's a Yes, then it's way more likely to happen than if you start by assuming it's a No.

Sure, there are some things we can pause and pray about, to ensure we are in line with God's will.

Yet what if we started off pursuing every opportunity as if it was God's will, assuming it's a Yes, until we hear a clear No?

We start with Yes until it's a No.

What could it look like to step toward the Yes in your life?

What could it look like to step toward new things with excitement and purpose, instead of tentatively wondering if you were even supposed to be toying with the idea?

  • Could it change some things for your life?

  • Could it open up new doors for you?

  • Could it give you more stories to share around the dinner table?

Go ahead and assume it's a Yes, until you find out it's a No.

It's a mental shift.

It's a new way of viewing the world.

It may even be a new way of your view of God.

He has more in store for you, if you will step toward it with a Yes, instead of assuming it's always a No.

Go for it!
