We are in the middle of this series about how to take the journey toward Soul Control.
We are going to examine three different areas of our lives as we make this journey: our bodies, our minds, and our souls.
Last time, we focused on our body, and how we can persist in doing good things with it.
Specifically, we looked at fueling our bodies with good food instead of processed food.
I challenged you to track your food for 2 weeks.
That gives you one more week to go.
It's eye-opening, isn't it?
That's the point.
Today we are going to talk about persisting in another area.
How you move your body
Exercise.
Working out.
Fitness.
These words all describe how we move our bodies.
For some of us, it's easy.
We like movement.
We keep it fun.
For others of us, it's not easy.
We don't like moving.
We don't like sweating.
And for too many of us we have social media personalities who show off their picture perfect bodies.
We feel the pressure to aim for their god-like abs and ripped muscles, and when we look in the mirror we just get depressed.
We don't measure up to them.
We have adopted the mindset that fitness is all about how we look.
Yet let's free ourselves from that mindset.
Fitness and exercise and working out isn't just about how your body looks afterward.
Whether others can see your abs or bulging biceps is not the success factor.
What is the whole point of fitness?
It's to be able to do what you need to do and what you want to do.
So, can you do what you need to do?
Can you carry the groceries?
Can you use the shovel in the garden?
Can you get in and out of the truck as you make deliveries?
Can you carry the baby?
What do you need to do?
Can you do it?
What about what you want to do?
Can you go for a hike?
Can you ride a bike?
Can you finish a triathlon?
Whatever it is that you want to be able to do, can you do it?
Those are your determining success factors.
Now, if you can do what you need to do and what you want to do, then you're good.
You may not need to increase your exercise routine.
But if you can't, then it's time to make some changes.
I challenge you to push your body physically.
Here's why:
when you begin to push your body, you begin to gain control over your body.
It's one of the first steps toward Soul Control.
And control over our entire being, even the deepest part of us--that's the point.
That's the real goal.
Make your body move even when it doesn't want to.
It's a required step on the path toward Soul Control.
