Manuscript Complete!

This morning I finished editing the manuscript for my first book.

What a relief that is to say!

This has been a year in the making as I've been formulating the ideas and putting them on paper.

Now there are a few details to figure out before I get my first copy and go through myself.

One thing that struck me as I was writing this morning was this truth:

Sometimes we get out of balance for a season so that we can be in balance for the longterm.

Have you ever related to that?

For me, I am walking out a health journey that took a weird turn this spring.

It led to doctors finding cancer in my tongue and neck this summer, and then removing them a month later.

Today, just over two months after a major surgery that removed half my tongue, then reconstructed my tongue with tissue from my arm, and finally a skin graft from my leg to cover over my arm--I am still healing and recovering.

It's a season of healing and restoration for my body.

These past few months were not a season of balance in the moment.

I missed my kids showing their sheep at the fair.

I spent a week in the hospital without speaking or swallowing after surgery.

I had a feeding tube for a week.

I had a tracheostomy in my neck to help me breathe while my mouth and neck were swollen after surgery.

None of those things were ideal or considered to be something that would be called 'balance.'

But in the longterm view of things, that surgery needed to happen to bring my life back into balance.

I was out of balance for a while as I healed initially from surgery.

But not I am more in balance because I went through with that season.

The same is true for you.

There are some seasons that your life is not in balance.

You must decide if it's a season that must remain out of balance for better longterm balance, or if you must make changes to get back into balance.

There is a difference.

A few years ago my life was out of balance because of work. It was affecting other areas of life too, and there needed to be a change.

That happens sometimes, and we get to decide what to change to get our lives back into balance.

What is this season looking like for you?

Are you out of balance and needing to get back into balance?

Are you out of balance on purpose so that you can be in balance in the longterm?

Know your season.

Know your requirements.

Fulfill your requirements.

Fulfill your season.
